Background
Cent Brand Store is a well-known Finnish specialty store in wood products, which has established itself as a pioneer in interior wood. Based at the Kalajoki plant, the company manufactures high-quality moldings, panels and sauna and terrace products from Finnish wood using the most modern production technology in the industry. In addition to Finland, the company serves customers in Sweden, Germany and Austria. With the international growth, there was a need to unify the technical infrastructure of e-commerce and streamline operational processes.



Challenge
Fragmented ecommerce structure, manual processes and flaws in technical SEO
As Cent Brand Store's international operations expanded, several technical and operational challenges arose:
- The Swedish online store operated as its own separate Shopify instance, while Finland, Germany, and Austria were already in the same instance
- Transferring orders to Visma Nova required manual labor and was error-prone
- The layout of the online store needed modernization to meet today's requirements
- Technical SEO was neglected: flawed schemas, broken hreflang tags, missing crumb paths and slow page load times reduced visibility in search engines
- Maintaining a separate Swedish online store ate up resources and made it difficult to create a cohesive customer experience
Cent wanted an ecommerce solution that:
- Would combine all four markets (Finland, Sweden, Germany, Austria) into one manageable entity
- Automate the transfer of orders to the ERP system flawlessly
- Thoroughly fix technical SEO and increase organic visibility

Comprehensive reform, technical SEO and integrations
We implemented a large-scale e-commerce modernization project for Cent:
To revamp the Shopify theme and improve the user experience:
- We designed and implemented a completely new, modern theme that supports the visual identity of the Cent Brand Store
- We optimize the user experience for both desktop and mobile
- We developed a smart sales counter for product pages: customers can enter the area in square meters, and the counter will immediately display the required quantity in meters (excluding waste and 10% with waste), as well as the package quantity
- We built the theme to be scalable with future needs in mind
Complete overhaul of technical SEO:
- The schedule: We implemented comprehensive structured data labeling for products, reviews and the company
- Hreflang tags: We fixed and optimized cross-language references for all four markets
- Crumb paths: We added clear navigation paths to improve user experience and search engine understanding of site structure
- Redirected: We cleaned up and fixed the old broken redirects
- Canonical URLs: We verified the correct canonical links to avoid duplicate content
- Site Speed: We optimize load times according to Core Web Vitals metrics
Market aggregation:
- We moved our separate online store in Sweden to the same Shopify instance where Finland, Germany, and Austria already operate
- Now all four markets operate under a single instance as their own market
- We enabled seamless language and currency exchange between markets
- We harmonized product portfolio and pricing management for all markets
Visma Nova integration:
- We built an automatic SOAP interface for order transfer
- Integration takes into account different types of products: metered goods, pieces and packages
- Discount codes, shipping charges and customer messages are automatically transferred
- We paid special attention to the transmission of tailor-made information about sauna products
Thanks to the integration, orders are transferred to Visma Nova immediately after payment, containing all relevant information in the correct format.

It had become obvious to Cent that there was a need to repair, perhaps to create a new online store that would serve us in terms of sales growth. First, we surveyed professional Shopify agencies that, in our opinion, had sufficient expertise for repairs. A few of these were easily found. We asked for a willingness to overhaul our site and walk-through shop to get the marketing cornerstone right, organic visibility.
For three offices, we issued IDs and asked for estimates of repairs. By far the quickest in the replies was Growly. They fixed whatever they could, but because our old shop was so structurally in knots and no documentation was found, a few things were found impossible to fix rationally. Their proposal was clear; a new theme and updates. It was important for us that we get a new well-functioning store to launch as quickly as possible, because there was a lot of paid advertising in accordance with the contract and the investments were partially wasted.
The problems and requirements were very clearly documented and we ordered a new Seo optimized store and it all happened in five weeks, AMAZING! Now, a little over a week after the release, the minor fixes that have been included in the price have almost all already been fixed. And organic visibility is growing magnificently.
